Make poverty history

ChildFund Australia has teamed up with more than 30 Australian non-governmental organisations to launch the Make Poverty History Campaign.

Make Poverty History demands that the Australian Government deliver on its promise of meeting the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, a set of eight goals intended to halve global poverty by 2015. By joining other governments around the world Australia can ensure these are achieved.

ChildFund Australia invites supporters to actively support the campaign by visiting and writing letters to local MPs, signing petitions, sending postcards and participating in Make Poverty History Events.

Put pen to paper

Write a letter to support The Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and malaria. Download the Make Poverty History letter-writing guide and write to your MP or state senator in support of the Millennium Development goals. An informed, personal letter from a constituent can have a powerful impact on politicians. Read the Make Poverty History letter writing guide before writing your letter.

Face Up To Poverty

Make Poverty History is trying to get 0.7 per cent (around 145,000 people) of the Australian population to sign an online photo petition to Make Poverty History. The petition will be officially launched on the 07.07.07 in Sydney.

We need a lot of faces on the site when we launch, so we are asking for your help. Optus is sponsoring the project and we are hoping to project faces onto Sydney icons during the launch week. To see what people have already done, visit the online photo gallery on flickr.com.

Please burn the photos onto a disc and the Make Poverty History Team will upload them for you. Discs can be sent to: Andrew Hassett, World Vision, GPO Box 399C, Melbourne, VIC 3001
