SYDNEY, Australia – March 30, 2016: Schools, workplaces and trivia buffs across Australia are being invited to take part in ChildFund Australia’s third annual trivia fundraiser called ChildFund’s Big Ask, in support of children’s education around the world.
From 2-8 May 2016, ChildFund is calling on all Australians to hold a trivia event with friends, family or colleagues, to help raise vital funds that will ensure children in some of the world’s poorest communities have the chance to go to school.
Trivia events can be held at home, school, the office or a local venue. You just need to register your event at childfundsbigask.org.au to participate. Funds raised will support ChildFund’s education programs in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
More than $30,000 has been raised in previous years from ChildFund’s Big Ask, assisting hundreds of children to access or continue their education. Just $8 can give a child in Vietnam a study set that includes all they need to go to school; $110 can give a child in Laos a new bike for a safer and quicker journey to school; and $199 can pay for a scholarship to send an Ethiopian girl to school for a year.
Nigel Spence, CEO of ChildFund Australia, said significant progress is being made to reduce poverty for children around the world but many children still lack access to a quality education.
“ChildFund’s Big Ask is an opportunity for all Australians to have fun for a great cause. By joining in a trivia event in your local area, you will be helping to make the dream of education a reality for some of the world’s most vulnerable children,” said Mr Spence.
