Asia-Pacific
During the 1990s, the child mortality rate for children under
five was reduced by one-fourth in many parts of Asia, and
progress was made in pregnancy-related complications with more
births attended by skilled health personnel. However little
progress was made in South Asia, the region with the lowest
levels. In working with governments and local community organisations, ChildFund's projects in Asia and the Pacific help provide effective and long-term solutions to these problems. They not only tackle community priorities, but provide for the present and future needs of children.
