ChildFund Australia is committed to maintaining public accountability and strengthening its commitment to reducing poverty.

Professional accreditation

ChildFund Australia is a member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct. The Code requires members to meet high standards of corporate governance, public accountability and financial management. ChildFund Australia is committed to upholding and advancing this Code.

We are also fully accredited by the Australian Government’s Agency for International Development (AusAID) to receive government grants. Accreditation is a stringent process in which all operational activities – financial, managerial, fundraising and program – are analysed.

ChildFund Australia is also a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA), and a signatory to its Principles & Standards of Fundraising Practice, which require all member organisations to adhere to ethical, accountable and transparent fundraising.

Financial transparency

ChildFund Australia’s international development programs are funded through several income streams including Child Sponsorship and Project Humanity regular-giving programs, government grants, public appeals, trusts and foundations, major donations,  and bequests.

ChildFund Australia and our partner ChildFund International have extensive financial and program accountability checks in place to ensure that funds are managed effectively. From the initial planning stages, to the actual delivery of services to children, ChildFund Australia and ChildFund International monitor, examine and evaluate each program to ensure that benefits reach those children the programs are targeting. This process also ensures that funds are expended according to strict controls.

ChildFund Australia and ChildFund International national offices are subject to an annual external statutory audit. In addition, an internal audit procedure is applied to all national offices.

ChildFund Australia is audited on annual basis by accounting firm KMPG. This also includes the financial accounts of our country offices in Cambodia, Laos PDR, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. Our most recent annual audited financial reports can be downloaded from this website.

The Australian Taxation Office has also endorsed ChildFund Australia as a deductible gift recipient and income-tax exempt charitable entity.
