Life in Kenya

Fidel is a bouncy boy, living in Samburu county in the northern part of Kenya. He lives with his single mother and one sister. The family source of water is from a well which is not protected thus they risk being sick of waterborne related diseases. The family lives in a temporary traditional hut which is constructed using hide, mud, and grass mats strung over poles. A fence is usually built around the mud huts for protection from wild animals. The parents depend on casual labor like selling charcoal to earn their basic income. The family also occasionally benefit from the government food ration to supplement their meagre income. Their annual income is below 250 US dollars which is not enough to cater for their basic needs. Fidel was referred to the project for enrollment. Fidel attends school and his hobby is to play a soccer game with his friends. Sponsorship ensures he receives life-changing support which will enable him to acquire the skills he will need to achieve a better future.
