ChildFund gives voice to opportunities on World Children’s Day

ChildFund CEO Margaret Sheehan is adamant about creating more opportunities for children to participate in decisions that affect their lives including those around climate justice and to talk about the work that ChildFund with their partners does on World Children’s Day. “World Children’s Day is a day to recognise and celebrate the rights of children. At ChildFund Australia, promoting and protecting those rights is at the heart of our mission” “Children and young people around the world are speaking out – demanding a future free from violence and calling for a seat at the table in decisions that impact their lives. Most importantly, they are holding us accountable for their rights to protection and safety (online and offline) and of course the right to the future including a planet that is sustainable. “We’re doing our best to listen. We hear the voices of children everywhere calling for change. They want to go to safe schools, to never go to bed hungry, not to be married at early ages, to turn on a tap and have clean water, and to be protected from online abuse They want to feel protected and cared for. They have the right to feel and be safe, the right to be educated, the right to contribute to decisions and the right to a future,”’ said Ms Sheehan. “These voices remind us of the urgency of our work and how we have not met our commitments to so many of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals With the recently published ChildFund World Index, which gathers insights from over 10,000 children across 41 countries, we hear their hopes, fears, and dreams for a brighter, more inclusive world.” “On World Children’s Day, we stand with children around the world – not just in words, but in action.
