Thousands of young children are in urgent need of assistance following the most devastating earthquake and tsunami to hit Indonesia in almost a decade.
More than 800 people have been confirmed dead, 632 people have severe injuries and almost 200,000 people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance following a series of earthquakes that triggered a tsunami in the heavily-populated Central Sulawesi province in Indonesia.
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck just after 6pm on 28 September, triggering a tsunami that tore through Palu and Donggala, which are home to a combined 600,000 people.
Initial reports estimate that half the buildings in the area have collapsed or are severely damaged, and that 61,867 people were displaced due to homes being destroyed.
Right now, children urgently need food, clean water, shelter and medicine.
ChildFund Indonesia is working with a local partner to assess the most urgent needs, and distribute emergency aid to children and families in the affected areas.
