60 seconds with … Evelyn Henson

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to work in international aid? In this special series, we introduce you to our many dedicated staff members working behind the scenes and on the ground, in Australia and overseas.

We hope you enjoy meeting #TeamChildFund!

My name is Evelyn Henson.

I’m the Executive Assistant/Office Manager at ChildFund Australia.

My role involves providing support to the CEO, and Sydney office team.

I’ve been at ChildFund since September 2010.

One of Evelyn’s most memorable moments was meeting staff and children in Nonghet in Laos.

My most inspiring moment at ChildFund was travelling to Nonghet in Laos and meeting some wonderful staff, children and community members, topped off by teaching Global Community Ambassadors how to crochet, which they hoped would enable them to start their own business.

The things I love most about my job are meeting people, especially hosting visitors from our country offices. I also like the variety of things I get to be involved in and I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.

When I was a child I wanted to be a vet.

The country I’d most like to visit is Vietnam.

The top three things I’d take with me in an emergency would be my family, my cat and a change of underwear!

My favourite dish/cuisine or place to eat is Sunday morning pancakes, eggs and bacon breakfast at home with family and close friends.

I’m really good at making pancakes!

I can’t live without my family.

I’m looking forward to spending time with my granddaughter in the school holidays, some more travel and completing my studies.
