Donations in Action – Sewing Machines

For one community in Kenya, the struggle to educate, feed and shelter their children, as well as meet their medical requirements, gave birth to the Mwitikua self-help group. The members identified tailoring skills as a sustainable way for them to support their families and through the help of the Donations with a Difference program, ChildFund provided sewing machines and skills training.

‘I am very happy and thankful for the sewing machine for me and the group in general. This will make us self reliant. I now dream of owning a shop of my own and to win big tenders to make uniforms for NGOs like ChildFund’.

– Beatrice, Mwitikua self-help group.
